Day 1 - The Adventure Begins!

Participants will meet at the Zao basecamp (in Errington, BC) at 1:00pm. This will be our base for the next day as we get to know one another and get to know some of the equipment we will be using on the backpacking portion of the adventure. Guides will assign equipment, go over some general details, and conduct pre-trip safety briefings and discussion. We will set up tents and our kitchen. Parents are welcome to stay for this first portion of this day.

Day 2 - We’re off!

The morning of day 2 is typically when we actually depart for the adventure (unless otherwise stated). From here participants will be out in the wild until the last day of the program

Final day - The Conclusion

We will wake early and travel to our appointed pickup location. We’ll be back at the farm base camp after our last lunch, and our final fireside debrief which will bring a conclusion to the adventure. After this we will de-issue gear and cleanup. Participants will be able to be picked up by 4:00pm in Errington.

Please check off any gear that you may need to borrow from Zao.
Gear can be expensive and cause outdoor trips to be prohibitive to some, as such, we do not expect participants to take on the extra cost of gear. Please do not feel if you check an item, that you MUST borrow it, it is simply a guideline so that we know how much gear to have prepared for each trip. If you have signed up for a backpacking trip we require that you have your own hiking boots (preferably new, not thrift store to guarantee fit, and quality) and that you have worn them numerous times at least a month before the trip. Doing this will significantly decrease the likelihood of blisters forming. Let us know if there is something not included below that you have questions about, or if there is anything else on the packing list that you think you might need help finding. We want to help, and are dedicated to helping our participants have an enjoyable experience!
