Application Deadline: February 29, 2020
(2 positions available for 2019)
We have room for up to 2 interns starting in Spring of 2019. We are widely flexible with this position, depending on which area of focus the applicant needs experience with. Typically you would be an outdoor program student and aspiring guide, and you are looking for leadership and outdoor industry guiding experience. As an intern with Zao, you would come with some experience, but will be looking to continue building your outdoor resume. You will hopefully have a desire to complete an industry training program to become an assistant or lead guide in the future. This may be a good fit if you have completed the GLT program, or other leadership training program. Interns will be given the opportunity to work alongside our directors and lead guides in a mentorship relationship, and given leadership opportunities throughout the season. You are a servant leader and have a heart to shepherd our campers and students. You have experience with youth, and you are hoping to become a certified outdoor leader. You are motivated and hold a current certificate in wilderness first aid and CPR-AED. Like other camps, you will have the opportunity to fundraise (tax receiptable via the CBWC) for your work with our ministry, and will receive a stipend from Zao at the end of the summer. See our Internship page for more information, and to apply.
Base Camp Work Crew
On our first and last day of trips, you and other work crew will help run our base camp. Duties include general gear set up and organizing, welcoming campers and parents, cooking the camp meal on the propane cooktop, and other odd jobs. Usually 3 - 4 hours depending on the number of work crew.
Board Members (4 positions available until filled)
Zao is currently looking for more people to join the board team. If you are passionate about outdoor ministry, or are a member of a CBWC church, please get in touch with the board. Preferably you would be located on Vancouver Island, but board members may be able to live anywhere in Western Canada, and commit to attending board meetings monthly (via computer if needed).
Our ministry is directly accountable to our denomination, the Canadian Baptists of Western Canada.
Feel free to contact Board Chair Bill for more information, at email@example.com
This is an ongoing opportunity to stay connected with our ministry and bless us with prayer!
