2017 Guide Internship

Overview

Zao is a non-profit, faith-based wilderness program for youth and young adults on Vancouver Island.  Our internship program is designed to provide opportunities for individuals interested in wilderness guiding, and outdoor ministry, in order to gain professional experience and knowledge in this growing field.   Interns will get practical, hands-on experience in all aspects of programming and guiding on up to six alpine and coastal trips between May and August. Our base is in Campbell River.   Interns are invited to join Zao at a training weekend with Ashley Denton in Seattle with Beyond Malibu in April.  This program is ideal for a young aspirant guide who is looking for work experience in the industry, or considering entering an ACMG certification stream.  A formal mentorship can easily be arranged.

If you meet the qualifications for the 2017 guide intern position, please call our ministry coordinator to arrange an initial interview and begin the application process. Things change with Zao from year to year, and you're likely to have lots of questions. We can also put you in touch with our former interns. Please don't hesitate to call. Thanks!
