2019 Guide Internship
Zao is a non-profit, faith-based wilderness program for youth and young adults on Vancouver Island. Our internship program is designed to provide opportunities for individuals interested in wilderness guiding, and outdoor ministry, in order to gain professional experience and knowledge in this growing field. We do not expect interns to be proficient and operating to a high degree, but instead hope that they come with a desire and willingness to work hard and grow in all their skills. Interns will get practical, hands-on experience in all aspects of programming and guiding on a number of backpacking, kayaking, and surfing trips between May and August. We also offer day climbing programs that interns are invited to participate in when available. Our base is in the Comox Valley, and we offer room and board to applicants if that is a need that we can take care of.
This program is ideal for a young aspirant guide who is looking for work experience in the industry, or considering entering an ACMG certification stream. A formal mentorship can easily be arranged.
If you meet the qualifications for the 2019 guide intern position, please fill out the application form (click the button on the right).
